Beethoven: Mass in C Major

The Kemp Concert Choir with professional soloists and orchestra under the direction of Warren Puffer Jones performs the Mass in C by Ludwig van Beethoven. (Originally scheduled for May 2020)

Celebrating Beethoven's 252nd (!) birthday, the Kemp Concert Choir will present the master composer's first major work of sacred music. Written during his prolific middle period alongside the Fifth and Sixth Symphonies, the Mass in C is a setting of liturgical text to music that showcases Beethoven's mastery of expression and his ability to imbue his pieces with deep feeling. Also on the program is the composer’s Egmont Overture, a testament to the human spirit and the struggle against oppression.

Sung in Latin with projected English translations.

Pre-concert talk at 2:30 PM. Doors open at 2:15 PM.
