Jennifer Coffman, mezzo-soprano

Lyric mezzo-soprano Jennifer Coffman pursued her Bachelor of Music in Music Education with a Vocal Concentration from the D’Angelo School of Music at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania and her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.  Jennifer was featured as the title role in both Handel’s Oreste and Ravel’s L'enfant et les sortilèges while at Westminster and performed with the After Dinner Opera Company in Les contes d’Hoffmann (Nicklausse), The Medium (Madame Flora), The Mikado (Katisha), and Little Women (Jo) while at Mercyhurst.  Ms. Coffman has performed with the New York Philharmonic, the New York City Gilbert and Sullivan Society, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Princeton Musicians Society, and at the Spoleto Festival.  She has studied with Metropolitan Soprano Sharon Sweet and coached with Met Conductor Daniel Beckwith, as well as Bel Canto Bootcamp’s founder, Rachelle Jonck.

Jennifer is currently studying with Dr. Robert Glaubitz, Director of UCO School of Music & Artistic Director of Painted Sky Opera.  Ms. Coffman has been honored to perform several times with PSO: twice as part of the cast of Amahl and the Night Visitors and in the productions of Madama Butterfly, Pagliacci, Carmen, and La Bohème.  This year, Jennifer covered the role of Lizzie Borden, in Painted Sky Opera’s production of Lizzie Borden.  Jennifer is also honored to be a member of both Canterbury Voices and Canterbury Chamber Voices, under the direction of Dr. Julie Yu-Oppenheim.

In 2022, Jennifer was featured as the alto soloist with Canterbury Voices in their performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and is honored to have been a featured soloist since 2021 in the Canterbury Chamber Voices’ Crescendo concerts.  Jennifer has performed The Messiah as the alto soloist with Oral Roberts University, Tactus, and Canterbury Voices.  In 2023, Jennifer performed Der Klang der Offenbarung des Göttlichen with Tactus and the OKC Philharmonic and was chosen for the newly created position of Painted Sky Opera’s Operations Director.

This December, Jennifer will be featured as the Mezzo-Soprano Soloist in Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël with Canterbury Voices.  Ms. Coffman will then be heading to Houston to perform with the Houston Grand Opera in the 2025 productions of La Bohème and Tannhäuser.
